Biography
Made Kuti, son of Femi and grandson of Fela, grew up in The New Afrika Shrine, surrounded by music. A multi-instrumentalist, he started playing instruments as a toddler and toured globally with his father’s band at just eight years old. He studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London and plays up to six instruments, practicing intensely for hours each day.
His debut album, For(e)ward, was released in 2021 alongside his father’s Stop the Hate as part of Legacy+. Through his music, he addresses issues like poor governance and police brutality. He actively participated in the 2020 #EndSARS protests and headlined his first show at the Shrine in 2021.
Nominated for a Grammy in 2022, he has since released singles Stand Tall and No More Wars and continues to work on new music. On February 11, 2024, he headlined his first African performance at the Sauti Za Busara Festival in Tanzania with The Movement Band.
